Zima is the tall, dark, mysterious guy who appears with Dita about halfway through the story. Their purpose is unknown until the last few chapters of the manga. They are usually found standing on top of high buildings wondering if “the program” has started yet.
The company that first sold persocons created Zima and Dita. (Now on referred to as the client organization.) The client organization received all their persocons from the developers, who first made persocons. The client organization wanted to be able to keep track of all persocons made so they made Zima. In essence Zima is a database with information about every persocon ever made.
The reason he and Dita are chasing Chii is because they know that she has a program inside her that can affect all persocons. They do not know what it does or whether it is good or bad, but their orders are to shut Chii down before the program takes effect. Zima feels some sympathy for Chii, and is curious as to what the program really is, and he wants Chii to end up happy. He does know where Chii is but he doesn’t tell Dita or do anything about it because he wants to see what happens.
