Chii and Sumomo are sitting around waiting for Hideki to return and cleaning up. He walks in looking dead tired because he might fail and have to take cram school again next year. As he is sitting around thinking about his grade Shinbo calls because Shimizu wants to know what Hideki got on his report card. After stating how Hideki’s grades go down during exams Shimizu suggests he take the National Conference Examination to test his current abilities. He then spends the next 2 days working and studying all night. He decides to take a vacation from work for the next week so he can devote more time to studying. He realizes when he gets to the grocery store that he doesn’t have his wallet, which has the week’s worth of money; it’s not at his apartment either. At work the next day Chii tells the manager how Hideki has no energy, and because of that she has no energy. She decides to give her paycheck to Hideki but he won’t take it. The next day at school Hideki can’t concentrate at all from lack of food. Chii decides to go buy food for Hideki with her money. When she tries to make a stew she practically burns the apartment down, luckily Hibiya sees the smoke and saves Chii. On the way home Hideki is lusting after all the restaurants he passes. Hibiya decides to stay with Chii and teach her how to make a meal for Hideki. Poor Hideki thinks it’s Hibiya’s room that has such a wonderful smell coming from but gets back to his room and finds a whole meal set out on the table. Shinbo calls again trying to give Hideki support for the exam and Hideki realizes how short sighted he was being and apologizes to Chii. We then see a happy Hibiya standing outside the door to Hideki’s room. It’s the day of the exam and to make it up to Chii he decides to take her anywhere she wants after the exam is over, meanwhile Yumi finds Hideki’s wallet at work. Hideki walks out of the exam room looking pleased.
