The sun shines on Chii, which wakes her up. She then shows off all the words she has learned. Hideki thinks that she is acting weird lately, but has to leave. He fins more bills he has to pay on the way to school, and ends up being late. During the day, Chii just sits in Hideki’s room, doing nothing. Hideki asks Shinbo, and he mentions that you have to recharge your persocons. Hideki realizes that he needs to bring Chii out in the sun more to charge her, or hook her up to the wall. Hideki gets home after school and work that day to find Chii collapsed on the ground. He tries to recharge her in the wall, but he blows the electricity because it takes too much, and it won’t come back on because he didn’t pay the bill. The phone won’t work so he can’t call Shinbo for help. Hibiya isn’t home so she can’t help. Hideki tries to carry her to somewhere where she can be recharged. He ends up trying to climb this hill to get there, and just as he reaches the top, he slips. At this point, Chii completely shuts down, and becomes much heavier. It’s really sweet how he tries so hard to help her. Hibiya drives by in a taxi and offers him a ride home. They recharge Chii from her apartment, but it uses a LOT of electricity, so Hideki has lots more money problems.
